The Philbrook Museum of Art features galleries, temporary exhibits, and a beautiful formal garden where you can see colorful blooms throughout the summer. In terms of exhibits that you can only see during the summer, there are a few popular exhibits wrapping up long runs at the museums, as well as some exciting new exhibits making their debut.
First, delve deep into Japanese art and culture. SAMURAI: Armor from the Collection of Ann and Gabriel Barbier-Mueller and Japonisme: New Perspectives from the Land of the Rising Sun debuted this spring and are available to be viewed through August 3, 2025. With more than 60 paintings and 80 objects of samurai armor (some dating back to the 1100s), these exhibits provide a fascinating, immersive look into Japanese culture.
There are 3 more temporary exhibits to see this summer at the Philbrook, including one that's wrapping up the end of a long run. These include Eduardo Sarabia: Ceiba Segrada which you can see through December 28, 2025, Earth Embodied which is also available through December 28, and War Club: Native Art & Activism which will be on display through June 29, 2025.
Living Arts – 307 E. Reconciliation Way, Tulsa, OK 74120
The Living Arts gallery aims to provide an inspiring, inclusive space for emerging artists, while creating an audience experience that goes above and beyond the typical gallery visit. It's a great place to see work from new artists in Tulsa, including the Oh, Tulsa! exhibit that exclusively showcases the work of emerging Tulsa artists. This exhibit is available from June 6 – July 19, 2025, and applications are open prior to the exhibit opening, if you've always dreamed of seeing your own art on display.
Next up on the summer schedule are visits from 2 talented artists, which you can experience from August 1-23, 2025. These include the Chthonic Ode exhibit from artist Olivia Maday, as well as an exhibit by Joshua Bolth, which delves deep into "inner landscapes" and modern life. This gallery features year-round rotating exhibits, so it's worth checking back often.
TCC: Thomas M. McKeon Center for Creativity – 910 S. Boston Ave., Tulsa, OK 74119
Did you know that Tulsa Community College offers a variety of free art exhibits, performances, workshops, and more throughout the year? You'll find them all at the TCC: Thomas M. McKeon Center for Creativity, which specializes in showcasing the work of underserved or underrepresented artists. Their big summer exhibit is Please Touch the Art, which highlights art that engages all 5 senses. This display is perfect for an end-of-summer gallery visit, debuting on September 5, 2025, with a special opening reception and remaining on display through the end of October.
